Anne Hu is a Taiwanese American, award-winning, MULTI-HYPHENATE FILMMAKER: a narrative DIRECTOR, WRITER, EDITOR, and ACTOR. With a penchant for personal storytelling, Hu’s voice has moved audiences across genres from poetic, heartfelt dramas to dark, provocative comedies.
A former fine artist, Hu has written, directed, and acted in her award-winning short films CAKE and LUNCHBOX. Collectively, her films have screened at over 91 film festivals worldwide, including The Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes, and have won 28 awards, including at the Oscar-qualifying Cleveland International and Urbanworld Film Festivals.
Her work has placed her in Netflix’s Original Series Directors Development Program (2022), The Alice List (Emerging Female Filmmakers who Have Not Yet Directed a Feature 2020), and the Space on Ryder Farm Film Lab (2019). She shadowed director Marc Webb on Netflix’s “The Society.”
Hu is also a Senior Editor with over 10 years of experience, cutting trailers and promos for The Last of Us, Industry, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and more.
As an actor, she has trained at T. Schreiber Studio, The Barrow Group, and The Freeman Studio.
She is currently developing multiple features, including a horror-comedy A PLACE WE ALL BELONG, a sex comedy MY SEXY SHAME DEMON, and a dramedy JOY SPA.
Outside of film, she finds balance through hip-hop dance, cute puppy videos, and cycling.
